Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Version: 8.10
Firefox version: 3.0
Monitor: ViewSonic VA702b
Firefox is actually over-filling the screen so the minimise, maximise and close buttons are off the screen at the top. There is no way to resize the Firefox screen, making it impossible to switch from this app to any other. The only course open is to close Firefox any time another app is to be accessed, not at all convenient or desirable.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10
Package: firefox-3.0 3.0.5+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.10.1
ProcEnviron:
 PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games
 LANG=en_CA.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: firefox-3.0
Uname: Linux 2.6.27-9-generic i686

Thanks for reporting this bug and helping to make ubuntu better, Is there a chance when this is happening to you that you may be in Fullscreen mode? Can you press F11 to see if it toggles to normal view allowing you access to the min. max. and close buttons?

Thank you,thank you. That was so incredibly simple I'm embarrassed.
Likely I inadvertently struck this key in the not too distant past and
had no idea. I guess this moves the issue from bug to user stupidity; I
don't mind subscribing to that as long as there's someone kind enough to
help out. Again thank you very much.

Well, perhaps it is a bug; the f11 keystroke is required at every launch
of Firefox. All other apps present themselves
as usual.
Still the solution, if not permanent, is satisfactory in any case as it
restores the functionality missing in the first place.
Only Stumble Upon has been added and that was immediately after install
in mid-November. I wasn't aware of the issue
we're discussing until a little more than a week ago.
Thanks again,
Patrick
