no video device

Bug Description

Hello,

I do have a sony sz3. with kernel
>uname -r
>2.6.27-11-generic
and Kubuntu intrepid with kde 42 Beta2

From http://www.arakhne.org:80/ricoh/index.html I got the firmware for my camera.
sources.list
deb http://download.tuxfamily.org/arakhne/ubuntu intrepid-arakhne universe #Camera
add package ricoh-webcam-r5u870-firmware

>lsusb
>Bus 001 Device 003: ID 05ca:1830 Ricoh Co., Ltd Visual CommunicationCamera VGP-VCC2
After installation of the camera-firmware there is stil no video-device
>ls /dev/vide*
>ls: Zugriff auf /dev/vide* nicht möglich: No such file or directory

it is not possible to start xawtv

>v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway

>no video grabber device available

but thats because /dev/video doesn't exist. How can I get this device?
Is it a bug or feature ???

Hello!

I can read at that those drivers are for a particular kernel version. It seems that those drivers are for 2.6.24-22-generic only.

However, it seems that you are not using a software package provided by the official Ubuntu repositories. Because of this the Ubuntu project can not support or fix your particular bug. Please report this bug to the provider of the software package. Thanks!
