Bug Description

Hello,

I got an Asus Mycinema P7131 Hybrid TV-Card. The card is recognized by the kernel, but the remote doesn't work.
On the same hardware, using an unnamed proprietary OS, everything works fine, so the hardware is ok.

I load the module with:
modprobe saa7134 ir_debug=1

Then dmesg output says:

When i press some buttons on my remote, nothing happens, even reading dmesg or tail -f /var/log/syslog.
It should instead say that a key was pressed.

Hi Gabriele,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid.

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 311387

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Gabriele,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. If you could test the current Ubuntu stable release(maverick ubuntu 10.10), this would help us a lot. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #>, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

I see that the bug's status is new again and currently nobody is taking the bug, so I will be triaging this bug for you.
