Weet someone how I on rag top packard bell have I ubuntu 8.10 intrepid ibex there but I can use no wifi connection weet there a someone solution?

Try installing linux-backports-modules-intrepid , it has backported ath5k and ath9k drivers. Madwifi will be discontinued in favour of these.
