intrepid locks up randomly when unattended

Bug Description

Intrepid 2.6.27-9-generic
All the currently available releases have been installed.

Intrepid randomly locks up when left unattended (no keyboard or mouse input) preventing use of keyboard and mouse (sometimes it can set for hours and will not lockup, other times only a few minutes are necessary). This requires a forced reboot to regain control of system. I have tried turning off the screen saver and setting the power control settings to never. Neither of these helped with the problem. I will attach the xorg0.log. The problem is repeatable but I have not found the conditions that initiate it.
Note: I have setup two different drives with Intrepid one with the default xorg.conf setup and the other using the Nvidia restricted drives. Neither setup takes care of the lockup problem.

I will also attach the .xsessions-errors file.

Hi ldm,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid.

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 311218

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
