Ubuntu and Baltix GNU/Linux doesn't have a root password as default, but you can set root password by running command:

sudo passwd

(first enter your password, then 2 times new root passwd)

Are you sure, that you have set root password on your system ?

 status Rejected

Ubuntu uses sudo, see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/RootSudo

Changed in terminal:
status: Unconfirmed → Rejected
