Bug Description

Binary package hint: at-spi

rhythmbox uses gnome-settings-daemon GrabMediaKeys. When this keys are grabbed pressing .
Note: those are acpi keys in my use case.
gdb leads me to think it is stuck in the at-spi-registryd via corba when the signal window:create is emitted. Ie I added printf with gettimeofday without finding a bottleneck in registry.c impl_registry_notify_event though that s the corba calls that looks the culrprit. Without rhythmbox focused (grabbing the keys) it works. With rhythmbox and without at-spi-registryd it works ... I am ready for test if this is not fully reproducible.
It is highly likely that this affect all key grabbers (in that gnome-settings-daemon does nothing specific when it grab those at the request of rhythmbox).

The freeze apply to all the gnome-desktop (it seems to happens the gtk level).

Regards
Alban

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:
1. Is this reproducible?
2. If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug? Be as detailed as possible.
3. It would also help if this could be tested in Lucid, the latest development version of Ubuntu. I will test in lucid if you can give me clear steps to reproduce this issue.
This will help us to find and resolve the problem.
