usb drive does not get /dev node

Bug Description

 jaunty, plugging in a usb drive no /dev gets created.

both hard and thumb, which both work if moved to a hardy box.

Are you still experiencing this issue with the latest Jaunty patches? If so please post an update and change the 'Status' of this report back to 'New.'
