Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

I would like my system to always and automatically connect to a fixed wireless network, independent if and which user is logged in.

Hence I tried to enable the "System setting" checkbox in System -> Administration -> Network for the respective network. I was asked for my root password and everything seemed to have worked.

However, there is still no persistent network. The connection is established only when I log in, and the "System setting" checkbox is unchecked when I reenter the dialog.

I am using Intrepid.

I hit this problem also with intrepid. As a temporary workaround, as mentioned on the link http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-984104.html you need to:

(1) uncheck "Automatically connect"
(2) check "System setting"
(3) check "Automatically connect"
(4) click Ok

I'm also with the same problem, what I did in intrepid was:

1. Edit the connections.
2. Delete the auto-configured wireless network
3. Create a new one manually, this time with the "System setting" box checked.

In this way, the system remembers the configuration and connects automatically.

I use intrepid for AMD64 and my wireless card use the madwifi driver.
