Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions for debugging this types of problems at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingHardwareDetection

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

1.) in jaunty i selected the PHILIPS VOIP080 in sound preferences
pressed the test button. and it did not pass the test

2.) i expected it to work

3.) some dissapointment

this screenshot says it all
 http://launchpadlibrarian.net/20628644/testsoundplayback.png

 input/output sound work great in 9.10 alpha 4 (2.6.31-5-generic)
the dial pad and buttons dont do anything with ekiga
but never had before

but calling works with ekiga works good.
i have not ever tried skype
