slow transfer to external usb 2.0 drive

When I'm writing to my external usb 2.0 the transfer is very slow 1-2 MB/s. In fact all the computer is slow

I have a macbook 2.1 with Interpid 8.10 fresh install, and with all updates

Could this be a duplicate of bug 197762?

I think no.
I don't know if there is relation with gvfs or other software...

I counted the time of the transfer and with a 256Mb file:

Is not the seam results of that bug

I tried with mac os x with the same drive and file in my computer: 21 seconds

I can survive without solving it but it's a little annoying
