Bug Description

On Korganizer 4.1.0 (on Intrepid Ibex), I can't make a new journal entry with just one click. In the earlier version (sorry I don't know which, as it's on my other computer which I won't see again for another month -- it was the version for Hardy Heron) anyway in the earlier version, I could just click on a hyperlink-text for a blank journal date. and a new journal entry would instantly be opened/created for me.

Also, saving and editing are not as automatic as they were before. I can't just click inside a journal-entry box and start typing, but have to actually click the "edit" button.

Also, by default now there is a a time for each journal entry -- the time feature I'd like to be able to turn off so I don't have to uncheck it every time.

And the date is always wrong: It always defaults to 15 December 2008 instead of the current date.

Thank you for reporting this bug. Do you use KDE3 with Hardy Heron or the KDE4 remix?

The KDE remix.

Perhaps I should give more detail:
After clicking 'Add Journal Entry' and making the new entry, clicking
'Apply' or 'OK' has the same result - a dialog box with the message
'Unable to save "Whatever_the _title_is" '. It is always necessary to
click 'OK' twice in order to close the box.

Arnold

Looking into Help > About, I see that it's KDE 4.1.3. But I use it within the Gnome desktop system.

Oh, but let me add that I don't have that same problem with Journal being unable to save an entry. It's just slow to save a little Journal entry (maybe 5-10 seconds).

I can confirm all the additional mouse clicks. (which are a nuisance, not a bug)
The one thing in this description that truly is a bug is true, too: Journal entries are created for the day that starts the week if one is in "week view" mode, rather than setting the current date.

Manually changing the date later on reuslts in funny effects such as two entries being created. Both (identical, with changed date) entries will be shown when in "week view" mode, however, selecting only single days in the view pane shows that one of the events actually is still registered for the start of the week, while the other one is present at the proper day.

Manually deleting one of the entries has only temporary effect, when switching to "Week View" again, the deleted entry reappears and one is back to the original behaviour.

From the outside this looks like some putting stuff under the right index issue.

This is KOrganizer 4.2 rc1 on Kubuntu 8.10, running in Kontact container 1.4

KOrganizer is being rewritten for KDE 4.4, so KDE is not pursuing bug reports for older versions any more. There is a good chance that the buggy behavior won't pop up in the rewrite, however. :)
Thanks for understanding.

Whoops, KAddressBook was getting the rewrite, not KOrganizer.

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more effective debugging.

Thanks!
