Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

I am testing an extremely simple wml file from Firefox. The source is:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE wml PUBLIC "-//WAPFORUM//DTD WML 1.3//EN" "http://www.wapforum.org/DTD/wml13.dtd">

<wml>
  <card id="card1" title="WML Tutorial">
    <p>Hello World</p>
  </card>

  <card id="card2" title="WML Tutorial">
    <p>Welcome to the world of WML</p>
</card>
</wml>

I get I dialog box asking wether I want to store or open the file. I say open with firefox and then it starts to open a new tab, opens immediately another tab and so on. I can only stop this by logging of (trying to kill firefox from the command line is interrupted by Firefox stealing the focus from my terminal window).

I know wml is meant to be used from my phone. Just wanted to see wether the page existed.

Ronald

I had this same problem with a different file type. It's a .class file, and when I try to open it, I select open with Firefox, do this automatically, and instead of showing the file as text in the browser it opens unending new tabs!!

There must be some way to fix this?

By the way, I saved it from crashing by clicking the close button, selecting save tabs, and reopening Firefox and deleting blank tabs.

I just got this with an RSS file, the issue only occurrs when Firefox is told to open the file with firefox.

The file is loaded, it starts a new tab to view the file which loads the file and then starts a new tab...

The work-around is to go to Preferences/Applications and search for "rss" (or whatever your file-type was)
Change the action for that file-type from Use-Firefox to something else.

Of course this still is a bug - as far as RSS goes, it's an XML document so it should be possible to display it as we might any XML document.
