Bug Description

Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

Writing an e-mail in Thunderbird and using Alt-Tab to switch between applications it happens that thunderbird is not accepting numbers to be entered anymore unless you press the ALT key again or you restart Thunderbird.

Currently I am using Ubuntu Hardy (8.04) and Thunderbird 2.0.0.18, but I remember that this behavior also happend on former configurations.

Now since this behavior remains, I decided to report it.

Regards,
Martin

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Could you also tell us a little more about your setup? Namely, are you composing messages in HTML or text-only mode and what language is your Ubuntu installation using? Is this an issue when entering any numbers, or is the problem only seen when using the number pad (to the right of full-sized keyboards) or the row of numbers above the letter keys? Thanks in advance.

I'm moving this to the thunderbird package, since the mozilla-thunderbird package has been a transitional package since Thunderbird 2.0.

The behavior as described above is still the same on
* Ubuntu intrepid 8.10 english and
* Thunderbird 2.0.0.19 (20090105)
(and this happens on various machines on different installations !!) .. Just try it.

After Alt-Tab, no more numbers are taken (until ALT is pressed again)
* neither from the full-sized keyboard (numbers above the letter keys) nor from the num-pad.

I am composing messages as HTML, but the same behavior occurs when composing as text.

So, this is not a big issue, but it is not a normal behavior.

Best regards,
Martin

We're wondering if this is still a problem for you. Could you please try again using the latest version of Thunderbird? If this is still a problem, could you also try to reproduce this in Thunderbird 3? You can install Thunderbird 3 from the Ubuntu Mozilla Daily PPA. Directions for adding this are here: https://edge.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mozilla-daily/+archive/ppa

Thanks in advance!
