Bug Description
Binary package hint: pulseaudio
pulseaudio has some kind of preferences gui, I think, but it does not expose an option to set the amount sound channels (for example, 6 for surround).
Of course this can be set in pulseaudio's configuration files (in /etc/pulse or in ~/.pulse), but this is not in line with Ubuntu's/GNOME's goal of being easier to use and not require knowledge of the terminal and config files.
