spellchecker on Gedit does not chek english language

Bug Description
Binary package hint: gedit
Intrepid
On this computer according to the Language Support window English is supported.
Aspell on gnome-terminal works on english text file (almost) correctly.
But Gedit spellchecker does not list english on its language setting window.
I do not think it is a good design when on Language Support english is checked and aspell checks english text and yet a user cannot select english on Gedit spellchecker.
