Bug Description

I have installed and am using Ubuntu Mobile Edition. This includes the packages ubuntu-mobile, ubuntu-mobile-default-settings, netbook-launcher and devilspie, although I am not sure if these are the culprit here:

$ lsb_release -rd && apt-cache policy ubuntu-mobile ubuntu-mobile-default-settings netbook-launcher devilspie

See the attached image.

Steps to reproduce.
1. Press and hold Alt.
2. Press and release Tab at least once.

Observed behaviour:
 * Two entries are present; one with the Ubuntu logo and title "netbook-launcher", and another with the "Show Desktop" icon and the title "x-nautilus-desktop".
 * Selecting "netbook-launcher" before releasing Alt causes the launcher to appear.
 * Selecting "x-nautilus-desktop" before releasing Alt causes the launcher to quickly fade in over what appears to be the desktop.

Expected behaviour:
 * Only one Alt+Tab entry exists to access the launcher.
 * The desktop is only accessible through Nautilus or the links in the right column of the launcher.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help nail down this bug.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in NETBOOK-LAUNCHER.
For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications have bug reporting functionality built in to them. This was a bug in a patch we applied to Metacity to show the desktop in the Alt+Tab switcher.

The problem, as you mentioned, was that more than one desktop was shown even though you could not switch to the different desktop windows. This was fixed in a update to metacity in our PPA[1]. The update is available for both hardy and intrepid, and we are working on getting the patch into Jaunty's metacity.
