Bug Description
I upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10. There was some obscure question asked by the installation about
an "integrated logout/shutdown"?? I said go ahead (I would have no idea what they are really asking.)
Now when I shutdown from any menu, or in an xterm with "shutdown -h now", my hp pavillion a1510y
screen goes black and the power goes off. [I have acpi=force for the kernel following some suggestion
on the net about this.]
When I push the power button to startup, I get an orange progress bar and then a message about
the disk sd3 unclean .. and what looks like a disk check - then the screen goes black and stays black.
I then pull the power plug, plug in again, push the power button, and I boot correctly. (because the disk issue
was dealt with on the previous bad boot, i guess, although why that boot should not have failed.)
Can any one help? - This looks like the kind of issue question 50244 was talking about here.
By the way, i would much prefer to see what is happening as the boot or shutdown progresses - and NOT see
a useless orange progress bar.
Thanks for your help.
