Opening a PDF link first opens a new tab before launching evince

Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

When you click a pdf link in firefox, for a brief moment a new tab is opened and directly closed, before evince is launched. Clicking a pdf should just launch the associated program directly and not open a new tab first.

Just for information: Cannot reproduce on 64 bit Intrepid.
What firefox version do you exactly use?
