The error_log looks like that the document was printed successfully. What did actually come out of the printer? Or if nothing came out, did the printer show any reaction (LEDs, LCD display, noise, blank pages, ...)?

Nothing was printed. No paper was taken from the paper tray. The red light was blinking (printer model has only two LEDs, green and red, no display).

Thanks for looking into the issue!

At first apply all available updates to Intrepid. There are several updates for the printing environment.

If you still cannot print, create a second print queue but in system-config-printer choose the "gdi" driver. Can you print with this queue?

If this still does not work try the following:

cupsctl FileDevice=yes
cupsctl LogLevel=debug
lpadmin -p test -E -v file:/dev/usb/lp0 -m lsb/usr/splix/samsung/ml1610.ppd -o PageSize=A4

Can you print through this queue (named "test")? Replace "PageSize=A4" by "PageSize=Letter" if needed and also replace "file:/dev/usb/lp0" by one of "file:/dev/usb/lp1", "file:/dev/usblp0", or "file:/dev/usblp1" if needed.

Works great! Thanks!

Anything debugging-wise you want me to add?

ii splix 2.0.0~rc2-0ubuntu2.3 Driver for Samsung's SPL2 (bw) and SPLc (col

(looks strange with the missing text at the end of the output, but is correctly c&p'd)

The output is OK. Your installed SpliX driver is OK. It is the latest version.

Can you try

cupsctl FileDevice=yes
cupsctl LogLevel=debug
lpadmin -p test -E -v file:/dev/usb/lp0 -m lsb/usr/splix/samsung/ml1610.ppd -o PageSize=A4

and see whether you can print through the queue "test"?

Setting up a new print queue worked here.
So probably a splix upgrade issue from 2.0.0~rc2-0ubuntu2 to 2.0.0~rc2-0ubuntu2.3 since 2.0.0~rc2-0ubuntu2.3 was published in intrepid-updates on 2008-12-03.
Probably related to bug #352472 which was fixed in jaunty.
Moving to splix package and setting importance low.
