Nautilus lacks terminal 'sidepane'

Binary package hint: nautilus

Under the View menu there's no option allowing a terminal 'window' or rather a terminal pane to open between the Status Bar and the icon view. I've shown a mock-up attached.

I'm mostly using Ubuntu 8.10 with Nautilus 2.24.1

Upstream bug has been closed as incomplete because of inactivity. I am doing the same for this bug.

Mandriva has this functionality already and it seeems odd that Ubuntu is a bit backward in lacking this feature.
