Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

I'm running dual Geforce 9800 GTX's in SLI on an NForce 680i A1 Motherboard with 2Gb of RAM and an Intel E8400 3.0Ghz dual-core processor.

First let me say that Ubuntu 8.04 loads and functions great in SLI. However, with Ubuntu 8.10, the log-in screen fails to load.

My boot looks like this:
Bios specs, Grub menu, Ubuntu loading bar.

Once the Ubuntu loading bar finishes and it SHOULD be going to the login screen, I get http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f41/DeathStrikeVirus/view226706583be606d9611251259.jpg that error. Kinit fails to load and I am in the terminal only.

Thank you for your bug report. The kinit message is just a red herring and not an error message. It just means that there is no suspend image to resume from, so it's doing a normal boot instead.

Could you please attach your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log after the X server failed to load.

Could you also please run "sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci.log" and attach the resulting file "lspci.log" to this bug report.

Thanks in advance

I know this is listed as a duplicate, but I think my case is SLI related. Xorg sees two GPU's and doesn't recognize two GPU's.
I'd post my Xorg.conf but it was empty anyway. I ended up editing my xorg.conf and adding this:

Section "Device"
 Identifier "Configured Video Device"
 Busid "PCI:1:0:0"
 Driver "nvidia"
    EndSection

That's all assuming that is the correct Busid.

This fixed my problem entirely. X started right up and now everything works fine.
