Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

This is a whishlist.

I think you should resize an image in scale simply by pulling a corner.
This approach would be useful.
In a word processor, function most used is to reduce or enlarge the image in scale.
The ratio between the sides should remain constant.
Otherwise, you could distort the image without realizing it!

Uname: Linux 2.6.27-9-generic i686

This will be fixed once 3.0 has actually been compiled on Jaunty. To do the aspect ratio resize hold down shift. You can get 3.0 debs from the openoffice-pkgs ppa.

I have been made aware that holding down shift also works on 2.4.1 already in Intrepid so this bug really is Invalid but not for the reasons given originally.

My wishlist was to make the "with shift key" behavior the default one.
I think it is something that improves usability: i think that "ratio resize" is more common than the simple resize, and only few people know they have to press Shift key.
My mother noticed it because she is used to Microsoft Word and this is its default behavior.
For people that have to use both the office suites a difference is such a common operation is a problem.
With the default openoffice.org behavior you could distort the image without realizing it (loosing some image data and sons).
I think that such option by default is more intuitive...

(This is a wishlist)

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.
