Pidgin 2.5.2 crashes by changing a smiley theme and clickin on "close"

Pidgin 2.5.2 >> Tools>Preferences> Tab Smiley Themes
When I choose other theme than already set up and click on 'Close', the whole Pidgin crashes.
I use Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron and yesterday I have installed from backports repository this higher version.
Before it has not happened.

This bug is definitely NOT a security vulnerability and i can handle it by not changing my smiley theme often ;), just want to give you feedback.

I think that this could be an upstream bug, because even the version in Intrepid (2.5.2-0ubuntu1) is affected by this bug.

I am also getting this using 2.5.2-0ubuntu1 using Intrepid

I've duplicated it on 294904, because this seems an "upstream" bug and not caused by backport packages
