Bug Description
Binary package hint: audacious
Hi,
This is NOT a report about the audacious equaliser but about the sound audacious produces WITHOUT the equaliser.
I was doing acoustic listening tests using Audacious and FLAC files when I have detected a difference between the equalisation of the sound played by Audacious.
Compared to VLC or Movie Player (Ubuntu) on the same setup, same file, I can (and my colleagues also) clearly hear a lack of low and high frequencies.
I have tried to compensate this problem with the equaliser of Audacious using my headphones at home. I am not an expert but the following configuration makes the sound less different than the one I hear when I use VLC or Movie Player :
60 Hz : + 3 dB
170 Hz : + 1 dB
6 kHz : + 1 dB
But this does not exactly compensate the problem (it does at low frequencies I think, but not at high frequencies).
I would like someone to make a test to confirm my bug report.
I have checked that :
- I am using the same sound output module (OSS) in both cases
- The volume is the same
- There is no equalisation enabled neither on VLC nor on Audacious.
I have compared Audacious 1.5.0 and VLC 0.8.6e on Ubuntu Hardy.
Thank you
Arnaud

Is this still an issue? I'm not aware of this with updated Audacious 2.1 in Karmic.
