exif data removed from tif

Binary package hint: gimp

Hi,

After opening a tif-image file with exif information in gimp, editing the image, and saving the image as a tif-file, all exif data is lost. (With jpeg-files everything seems to be ok, strangely.)
I'm using gimp 2.6.1-1ubuntu3 on ubuntu 8.10.

Attached is the file before.tif. Running 'exiftool -artist before.tif' results in :
Artist : Alex

I opened this image with gimp and without changing anything saved it as after.tif. Running 'exiftool -artist before.tif' gives no result at all.

I read at several places that reading and writing exif for tiff files in gimp is not implemented (yet). So, should this be a wish list item?
