Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

I'm using Intrepid with a radeon X700 Pro and radeon drivers.
I've recently experienced a X freeze with Xorg being stuck in some XAA related methods.
It happened randomly after opening the gnome calendar from the system clock taskbar item.

Please find Xorg.1.log, full gdb backtrace, xorg.conf, lspci -vvv attached.

I've installed libdrm2-dbg and as soon as the bug occurs again I'll report with debugging symbols for libdrm.so.2.

I've just experienced another hang. Like last time, Xorg consumed 100% cpu , mouse cursor was still movable and amarok continued playing creakly.
Like last time, the hang occured in exaCopyDirty but this time another method named RADEON.... was involved.
I still have Intrepid installed ;)

Thanks. If you turn on Option "AccelMethod" "EXA" does it prevent the freeze?

Note Jaunty alpha-3 will be coming out tomorrow, and it would help in upstreaming this issue if you could confirm that the issue still exists on it. ISOs are available at http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty/

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.

Additionally, the backtrace contains numerous calls to exa* methods.

This bug does go away if I disable desktop effects - which obviously is not a solution.

Can you please try latest Jaunty? There have been many updates since Intrepid, including EXA code.

Hi Az, it's been a couple months, just checking back in to see if you've had a chance to test?
