Bug Description

Binary package hint: mythtv

When pressing remote buttons to navigate in mythtv, mythtv takes 2-3 seconds to respond, causing very high cpu usage in gnome-screensaver. Kill gnome-screensaver and it works fine again.

Was temporarily solved when I changed mythtv to use Qt4 instead of OpenGL, but the problem reappeared after next reboot. Current fix is to kill gnome-screensaver after each boot.

I am having similar problems and can confirm this bug. I leave my computer on days on end. After a restart there is a split second delay after each button press on the remote where mythtv completely freezes. After a few days it turns into a full second to 2 second delay where mythtv freezes.

It only happens when I press buttons on the remote. Even if the buttons dont do anything. If I use the keyboard mythtv works fine.

Hi guys:
Thanks for the bug report. Upstream has stopped focusing on 0.21 based reports in preparation for a 0.22 release later this year. Can you please try to see if this bug is reproducible on 0.22? If it is, we can try to forward this bug upstream to get the right eyes focused on it.

We have builds of mythtv 0.22 available on a PPA to test. Please follow the directions at http://mythbuntu.org/auto-builds to enable them.

WARNING: If you intend to go back to 0.21, you will need to back up your database before upgrading.

Thanks!
