So if you print this pdf even from outside of OpenOffice, eg printing from Evince does it not print the letter properly? If so then this bug probably belongs to cups.

Thanks,

I have a similar problem with OpenOffice versions 2.4 and 3.0. For me, it's the font "Calibri" by Microsoft (The default font of newer Office versions) which is acting up: the letter ö doesnt print. ä,ü,Ö,Ä,Ü all print. I think the bug is in OpenOffice, because other applications (I tested gedit and Wine's Notepad) print the letter ö just fine. The font Purisa by the way works fine for me.

The attached PDF is already missing the Swedish characters. This means that the problem is already in the print job/PDF file generation of OpenOffice.org.CUPS gets already broken input. Moving back to OOo ...

Do you still have this problem with the new version of OOo in the ppa at https://launchpad.net/~openoffice-pkgs/+archive ?

Alternatively where can I obtain this Purisa font?

Chris, I'll try to reproduce my bug with the newest packages. Like I said, I never had the one with Purisa. You can find the font in the Thai fonts package (ttf-thai-tlwg)

Chris, I have no access to the machine that showed the bug any longer. But on my own machine, with the latest packages from the PPA you mention, I cannot reproduce the bug.

I've just signed to launchpad - the bug is not closed and still active in Ubuntu 9.10 (Clean installation - no special ppa's active). Font: Calibri (standard font of all new windows systems). All german Umlauts are printed but not the ö.

Printer:
Konica Minolta PagePro 1350EN (Postscript capable and using Laserjet6 CUPS drivers).
Tested on a big Konica Minolta 2200-DL too.

Funny: on the small PagePro Spaces were printed instead of the ö. On the big 2200-DL: no spaces and no ö.

I've tested the same font with Abi word -> everything is fine. So it must be a bug inside OOO.

Please reopen the bug!

I forgot to mention: all chars are displayed on the screen and PDF export is fine. Its possible to make a functioning PDF using the internal PDF function. Its also possible to use the CUPS PDF printer (the ubuntu standard PDF printer).

Please have a look at bug 376953. There also some glyphs get displayed but not printed from OOo. That bug is fixed in OOo upstream. So the upstream version mentioned there probably fixes also this bug.

A bit offtopic, can anyone email me Purisa font or link me to it please?
