Bug Description

I recently bought a "dellbuntu" system with 8.04 installed. I used it for a day and tried several diffrent resolutions and it worked perfectly. then updated to 8.10 and right away my display got quite buggy and when tswitching resolution(because everything was too small) the monitor started randomly flashing colours, very pretty actually. the monitor worked fine booting from a live cd but changes made there didn't carry over. I also tried the "dell rescue disk" but IT was also buggy so I finally re-re installed the ubuntu distro disk(not the dell one) that came with the system and everything was fine thereafter. system wise have an onboard intell video(82g33/31 express integrated graphics controler) and a dell 19 inch lcd monitor. Im sorry i can't tell you the package infor that came with the system but its whatever dell is currently installing on the ubuntu systems as my box is less than 2 weeks old.

Hi zaphodbblx,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.
