It looks to me if we wait till the current maintainer of the Debian package updates the packages, we can wait a very long time.. I have no experience in packaging, but I will try if I can make anything out of it.

Hi, i've emailed Mr Blahota so he considers to submit his packages to MOTU for sponsorship process, and updated debian bug with this info, so maybe they can take those too.

In the meantime is advisable to use the updated packages, taking into account that bugs filled against those packages cannot be processed here.
