Bug Description

I have tried to install Xubuntu 8.10 on two different machines, both OS are WinXP and both failed due to the same problem.

The bug and the steps to reproduce it:
1. Download the Xubuntu image 'xubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386.iso' (MD5SUMS: 53c50ff06f4ad659f0abf6474b58c8e6) and burn it into CD.
2. Double click the CD item in the file manager of Window XP (Service Pack 2), the autorun should be performed and the dialog 'Xubuntu CD Menu' pops.
3. Click button 'Install inside Windows' on the menu.
4. Input the necessary information (drive: C:, size: 7GB, desktop environment: Xubuntu, language: English) together with username and password then click install to start the installation process.
5. After passing the checksums, the installer starts to create image. When the image creation is nearly done, it pops up a dialog and say something like "...cannot read the CD-ROM, please make sure the CD-ROM is not used by other programs and try again...".

Well, I just found another bug #207137... not sure if this report is a duplication of it or not as the major problem came from Xubuntu but not Ubuntu. Actually, I have the same problem for my 'Ubuntu 8.04.1 desktop i386' CD. However, wubi works good for my 'Ubuntu 8.10 desktop i386' CD.

By the way, the message above "...cannot read the CD-ROM, please make sure the CD-ROM is not used by other programs and try again..." was just a translation from another language as the language of my OS is not English, I believe it's exactly the same as the message in bug #207137 in English.

Use the ISO directly by putting wubi.exe and the ISO in the same folder and running wubi.exe.
