Bug Description

Binary package hint: hugin

When I add a bunch of images to a project, it aligns them, but when I go to Optimize, set to Everything, it crashes. This happened with the PPA version from https://launchpad.net/~fabricesp/+archive (0.7.0-1ubuntu1~intrepid) as well as with the Ubuntu Intrepid version (0.7.0~svn3191+beta5-1ubuntu1).
I did a backtrace using the Ubuntu version.

Hi,

can you attach the images that causes this error to this bug report, so that I can reproduce the problem?

Thanks,
Fabrice

Does this just crash when you try to optimise 'everything' or does it crash whatever you select to optimise?

I'm wondering if #317209 is a duplicate of this one.

I just did an optimize on positions, and it did the same thing.
This could be related to some problems I was having with Hugin... I might try a different Ubuntu install or something.
I put the pictures in a tar here.

Hi,

I succeed in getting a picture with that picture. The only manual thing I did is that hugin haven't been able to connect group 0,1,2,3, 6 and 7 with group 4,5. I then manually create matching point between 3 and 4, optimize everything and voila.

I've just seen in your backtrace that your are using the intrepid version (hugin-0.7.0~svn3191+beta5).
Can you please try with the version in my ppa (https://launchpad.net/~fabricesp/+archive). It's the version that will be released in Jaunty (version 0.7.0-1ubuntu1)?
Thanks,
Fabrice

It still does not work with the version from your PPA. I'll see if I can test it on a different install.

Hi,

Can you post the result of the following commands:
apt-cache policy hugin
apt-cache policy enfuse
apt-cache policy enblend
apt-cache policy autopano-sift
type hugin

and also post the new backtrace?

Thanks.

Here's the backtrace usuing your ppa. I couldn't install any of the dbgsym packages since those require the Ubuntu version to be installed.

Just to add that if I try the Dawson Marina photos...

... on the Athlon64 PC, as mentioned above, it has problems with finding the control points for two joins, I do them manually, it tells me I need to run align again, I press the align button again, it works, and then I can create the panorama.

... on the Core2 Duo, it crashes when I press the align button again.

So again, it's working on one PC here, but not the other one.

(I thought I'd posted this earlier today, sorry if it ends up as a double post!)

Hi,

This has been posted by upstream in the bug report in SourceForge:
"I've been able to create panorama with the test files from launchpad
report. But I've found out that problem may be in file DSC09720-1.JPG which
seems slightly damaged (for example geeqie wasn't able to open that one).

Can you please try re-saving this file (for example using mogrify
DSC09720-1.JPG)?"

Can you please make the test?

Thanks,
Fabrice

I finally had to do a complete reinstall with Jaunty, and Hugin has worked fine, including with the set of images here.

Thanks for the update.
I will then close this bug report as it has been solved in Jaunty.

Hmm, I still have the same problem - works on i32 and single core x64, crashes on dual core x64.
