Thank you for your bug report. The error is here;

Paramétrage de mjpegtools (1:1.8.0-0.2ubuntu5) ...
install-info: No dir file specified; try --help for more information.
dpkg : erreur de traitement de mjpegtools (--configure) :
 le sous-processus post-installation script a retourné une erreur de sortie d'état 1

Looks like the postinst script doesn't user install-info correctly

Did you install a version of texinfo or texlive by hand ?
What is the output of the command:
install-info --version

Thanks.

Sorry for bumping in when the bug report is so old, but I'm having the same problem on Debian Etch.

$ uname -a
Linux xxxxx 2.6.18-6-amd64 #1 SMP Thu Dec 25 21:08:54 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Synaptic details:
Setting up mjpegtools (1.8.0-0.4) ...
install-info: No dir file specified; try --help for more information.
dpkg: error processing mjpegtools (--configure):
 subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

texinfo is installed via package managemet
$install-info --version
install-info (GNU texinfo) 4.12

But I installed texlive by hand (using their cd image: texlive2008-20080822.iso)

Thanks for your time!

Hi,

Same problem here and I also installed texlive by hand...! How can this be related to our problem ?

It seems that the postinst and prerm scripts use install-info incorrectly.
Here is the workaround:
If you want to install the package, just ignore the error, which merely affects the Texinfo manual.
If you want to remove the package, the error in the prerm script may prevent you from doing that. You can edit "/var/lib/dpkg/info/mjpegtools.prerm" and comment out the line containing "install-info". Then try to remove the package.

Just to confirm that this issue is still present in Ubuntu Jaunty 64bit (Texlive 2008 installed manually).
