Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

The -audit option of Xorg is supposed to configure the logging level. At the level 0, audit logging should be disabled, but it's not the case.

This message is seen in the Xorg.0.log even if audit is set to 0 :

 AUDIT: Wed Dec 3 11:11:25 2008: 16626 X: client 4 rejected from local host (uid 0)

It's caused by an X client that tries to connect, but the connexion is refused because of missing Xauthority.

If set to 0, -audit should prevent logging those events.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10
NonfreeKernelModules: ath_hal
Package: xserver-xorg 1:7.4~5ubuntu3
ProcEnviron:
 PATH=/home/username/mono-1.2.6/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games
 LANG=fr_CA.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
ProcVersion: Linux version 2.6.27-7-generic (buildd@palmer) (gcc version 4.3.2 (Ubuntu 4.3.2-1ubuntu11) ) #1 SMP Tue Nov 4 19:33:20 UTC 2008

    I confirm this problem. Here is a patch to fix the behavior. It seems that the
    correct behavior is obtained on platform where DTRACE is available, which is
    not the case currently on Linux. Excluding the test to be protected by #define
    resolv the problem, which is really a small fix.
