acerhk.ko should be loaded on Compal CL56 laptops for wireless and application key support

Bug Description

Compal CL56 laptops have a 'software' wireless switch. On laptops with an older BIOS version this wireless switch is disabled by default and wireless will not work. After modprobe acerhk the wireless can be enabled with echo 1 > /proc/driver/acerhk/wirelessled

The acerhk.ko kernel module is also required for application key support. After modprobe acerhk the two application keys work without further configuration.

The acerhk module should probably(?) be loaded in hotkey-setup as this is where the sonypi module is also loaded.

Please can you provide the output of:

  sudo dmidecode -s system-manufacturer
  sudo dmidecode -s system-product-name

so we can identify this laptop.

...not sure where the rf-kill switch should be toggled from; it doesn't really seem in the right place being the acerhk module.

sudo dmidecode -s system-manufacturer
OEM Manufacturer

sudo dmidecode -s system-product-name
<BAD INDEX>

Because this doesn't look very helpful I've put the complete output of sudo demidecode here:

Not sure where the:

toggling should be done from; I have similar stuff in 'acpi-support'.

A better option would be to change the default-fall-through of 'acerhk' to fail to load, rather than default to a Series 200 laptop. That way, it could be always loaded regardlessly in the same way as the sony and thinkpad modules are.

Reassigning this to the kernel; the hotkey-setup package is obsolete and has been dropped.

Is the acerhk module now being loaded automatically on these systems that need it? That's what should be happening.

Current kernels appear to not have an 'acerhk' module at all. Has this module been renamed or otherwise superseded? The only 'acer' module in recent kernel trees is 'acer-wmi'.

I don't have a Compal CL56 laptop anymore so unfortunately I cannot test if it now works out of the box.
