Hi wil,

I see you reported this bug a while ago and didn't get an immediate response. I apologize for that. However, I'm seeing the following errors in your DpkgTerminalLog.txt file:

"Merging changes into the new version

Conflicts found! Please edit `/var/run/grub/menu.lst' and sort them out manually.
The file `/var/run/grub/menu.lst.ucf-new' has a record of the failed merge of the configuration file.

User postrm hook script [/sbin/update-grub] exited with value 3"

If this is still and issue for you, it might be helpful if you could attach the /var/run/grub/menu.lst.ucf-new file. Also, maybe the output of /boot/grub/default . It seems this may be related to bug bug 193439 . Thanks.

Hi wil,

After looking around a bit more this looks to be a duplicate of bug 269539 so I am marking it as such. Please continue to track this issue at that report. Thanks.
