Whilst upgrading from Hardy to Intrepid, there was an error message about drscheme.

2008-11-27 12:54:20,813 ERROR got an error from dpkg for pkg: '/var/cache/apt/archives/drscheme_2%3a4.0-1ubuntu2_i386.deb': 'short read in buffer_copy (backend dpkg-deb during `./usr/lib/plt/collects/scribblings/setup-plt/compiled/setup-plt_scrbl.zo')

Could you please check if the filesystem contains errors or anything like this? It looks like something went wrong when the package was unpacked.

I'm not sure how I would find out whether the file system has any errors?

I did see this problem with both my laptop and home server when I upgraded, which to me implies that it may be a reproducible error of some sort, rather than a localised to one machine corruption?

If you can provide guidance as to what and how to collect any further information, I can take a look to see if the logs are still available.
