Bug Description
When using Gnome (in the desktop or in Nautilus):
1) select file A with a click
2) now move your mouse to file B but don't click
3) press the 'context menu' key from your keyboard
A context menu should appear for file A, since it has the focus (remember you clicked it in step 1). Instead, it appears for file B, just where the mouse arrow is.
That way, the 'context menu' key loses all its functionality, since it depends on the position of the mouse in order to use it. Navigation through the files with the keyboard is more difficult this way.
I am using GNOME 2.22.2 but I think this is not relevant, as I have seen this behavior in several versions.

Thank you for reporting this behavior and helping to improve Ubuntu. I have marked this as a duplicate of Bug 160738, which appears to describe the same behavior. If you feel that I have done this in error, please advise.
I will comment on the other Bug report, but I just tested the behavior against Gnome 2.24.1 (Jaunty), and it works as you desire.
