Bug Description

Right-click on the desktop, choose "Desktop settings...", click the "Browse" button. The file selection dialogue is shown. There is no option to render thumbnails for all image files in the current directory. However, the purpose of the dialogue box was to select an image. The only way to get a preview of an image is:

  - Hover the mouse above a file for several seconds, or
  - Right-click on the file, then press ESC or click somewhere else to close the context menu

Both possibilities only work on a single file at a time. Imagine the annoyance when a user tries to select a single photo from a list of a hundred similarly named files.

Both Konqueror and Dolphin can show thumbnails for images and other file types. It would be highly convenient if the file open/save dialogue boxes were to obtain the same feature.

I'm using an up-to-date Kubuntu 8.10 installation.
