Bug Description

Binary package hint: audacity

Hey,

I usually always have music playing in the background whilst working. When I open up Audacity the music in the background speeds up and does not slow back down even after shutting Audacity down, however it does return to normal if i let it play out and it moves onto the next song automatically, if I force it to the next song it continues. Only way to fix it seems to be a complete reboot. I use the ALSA sound system, and didn't have this problem under any of the previous versions of ubuntu, and no hardware has changed.

Does it regardless whether i'm using VLC or Movie Player. I'm totally stuck and use Audacity a fair bit.

I thought about not having music playing in the background, but kind of defeats the purpose.

Any help appreciated.

John.

I'm using 8.04.1 Standard Kernel

audacity:
  Installed: 1.3.4-1.1ubuntu1

Is this still an issue for you? If so, can you check if the problem is reproducible on current Jaunty?

FWIW, I don't use audacity that much and usually don't have music playing in the background. I never experienced this previously. Today, I tried to reproduce this with exaile and audacity in Jaunty. The music from exaile stayed the same speed. That does NOT mean the problem does not still exist elsewhere, but that combination of software seems to work, FWIW.

Assuming it is fixed in Jaunty. Please reopen this bug if you are able to reproduce it in Jaunty. Btw, if you're using Hardy, it might also be that 1.3.5 from Hardy-backports solves the problem.
