It should be installed in /usr/bin.

I can confirm this bug, however it is using xmkmf so a rebuild still picks up the X11R6 path.

OK, I built a package for this removing xmkmf and hacking the Makefile. However, this may explode on other archs so I am hesitant to upload it. Can you give me some details on testing it so I can at least make sure it works? Thanks.

Hi Barry,

to test the function of xclip, select some text in a window. Then, in an
xterm, do a "xclip -o". This will print out the selected text.
To test the other direction, do "xclip -i". This reads text from STDIN.
Type some text, followed by ^D. Then click with the middle mouse button.
This will insert the text.

Also, see man(1) xclip.

Anyhow, i don't really understand why you had to remove xmkmf and hack
the Makefile.
I am not familiar with building debs, but is it not possible to have the
Makefile install into a fake root and then move the installed files to
the desired locations?

Uploaded with an extremely ugly hack to replace the X11R6 path in makefile until xmkmf gets resolved.
