Hi giups74,

Can you boot the 2.6.27-10 kernel with the 'quiet' and 'splash' boot options removed - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies#Bootloader . When the boot process appears to hang, would you be able to then take a digital photo of the messages that were printed to your screen up to where the hang occurs? Can you then attach the photo to this bug report? Thanks.

Ah, so it's not the kernel itself that is failing to boot. I'm reassigning this to fglrx-installer for now based on some of the errors I saw in your logs:

drmOpenDevice: open result is -1, (No such device or address)
drmOpenDevice: open result is -1, (No such device or address)
drmOpenDevice: Open failed
drmOpenByBusid: drmOpenMinor returns -6
(WW) fglrx(0): Failed to open DRM connection

Please try completely uninstalling fglrx and related packages and do a fresh reinstall. We've seen issues like these encountered when doing an in-place upgrade.

Ciao Bryce,

thanks for your support.

I have reinstall ati driver, new version 8.12 released 10 december 2008.

After reboot kernel 2.6.27.10 is perfectly working.

I'm closing this bug.
