I was trying to install Amarok on Ubuntu 8.10 when this error occurred. I have since been unable to install it.

For some reason your system has run out of file descriptors. Could you please retry the upgrade of this package and tell if it's still an issue ?

Thanks for your reply. It would appear that recently, upgrades to certain packages (I only remember Amarok and the default gnome icon set) have failed, all complaining that I have too many open files. After I increased the limit by a few orders or magnitude (yes, it was that bad), the upgrades succeeded. So I think you can safely close this bug :)
