Bug Description

I have a Dell XPS M1330 with an onboard Intel 3945 wireless card. I am using AMD 64 version of ubuntu. In Ubuntu 8.04 LTS the wireless worked fine: NetworkManager detected the wireless card and I could connect to wireless networks.

I upgraded to 8.10 using a combination of the CD and the network to download latest updates. After the upgrade, NetworkManager does not detect the wireless card at all.

Here is my system information:
Linux richard-laptop 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Tue Nov 4 19:33:06 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Note that in the dmesg output, the IWL driver complains about hardware scanning and exits with an error -110. I have Googled every way I can think of but cannot find any information on this error code.

I downloaded and installed the latest wireless drivers from http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Download but no luck so I removed them.

I have scoured the web but cannot find any information that helps.

I think in 8.04 I was using a restricted driver for the wireless - I cannot quite remember - but in 8.10 I note that there are no restricted drivers listed for me to use in the Driver Manager. The Driver Manager comes up but just says there are no available drivers.

Please let me know any other debugging steps you would like me to take - I really would like to get this working.

Thank you

Hi BlueLagoon232,

Can you attach your full dmesg output after a fresh boot (and without unloading/reloading the iwl3945 driver)? Thanks.
