"internal data stream error"

Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem

When double click on an avi video file, I get the "An error occurred", "Internal data stream error". I have no clue what this means more than that I cannot get any video file working. Please Help!

thanks fo the report, what's the output of: totem video.avi from the command line? does it works fine if you play the file with: gst-launch playbin uri=file:///path/to/video.avi ? looks more like a codecs issue rather than a totem problem, thanks.

Funniest thing. If I'm not using my Bluetooth Headset I don't get this error. However, video plays but no sound. I WANT to be able to use my headset with this. The video I used was Let it Rock on Youtube.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? May you please try the same with Karmic? Thanks in advance.

I would like to note that this is not a bug for me. I simply forgot to install the codecs that I used to have. ubuntu-restricted-extras had the specific codecs I needed, and I no longer experience the error.

This problem is solved for me . It was caused by installing Openshot video editor because it needs different version of media packages ...
