Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

When accessing some webpages, but not all, when I click the link, I get the busy icon, then whole FF window goes grey, and stays that way for 20 t0 30 seconds, then comes back to normal. Sometimes it goes grey twice before I can use it again.
I can work in other apps while the screen is grey, so the problem is confined to the FireFox window. I am unable to select any tabs, or click any buttons in FireFox while this is happening.

The window becomes grey when the underlying process is not responding. This is expected behavior. Please let us know if the problem is reproducible and which sites reproduce the error. Thanks!

Anthony,
The sites that I use frequently (in genealogy research), which seem
prone to this error:

http://ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com/
http://resources.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/townco.cgi

Thanks, Roger

Additional info about my setup:

Quad-core Phenom 9750 CPU
4 GB RAM
500 GB hard drive (SATA)

Programs I usually have running when this occurs:
SUN Virtual Box, running FreeDOS 1.0 (usually soaks up most of 1 core of CPU)
Firefox (obviously)
That's it. There should be plenty of CPU power, memory, and disk space for FireFox to be able to do what it needs to do.

We are wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try it with the latest firefox version? Thanks in advance.
