Bug Description
Both Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10 fail to install on my Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook E8110 WB2 laptop computer. In the boot menu both memory test and CD integrity test pass. I can boot into the Ubuntu Live session. However if I try to install the system I fail at different stages in the installation process. Either of the following happens:
1. The installation fails when copying files to the formated hard drive saying there is something wrong with the CD and suggested to re-burn the CD or clean the CD reader.
2. The creation of the filesystem (ext3 on an 80 GB HD) fails without explanation when doing the guided partitioning.
The process is the same on both 8.10 and 8.04. I can install latest Debian Etch without any problems. I will now try to install the alternate CD to see if it works installing this one. I will complement this but report with the result thereof. I have previous installed Ubuntu 8.04 via the Windows installer onto the windows HD without any problems.
If I can be of any more assistance (like trying something out) please let me know.

You can try to use some disk partitioner (install gparted on live CD or burn a rescue CD) and create an ext3 partition yourself. I would recommend this only if you had some experience with partitioning before.
