Bug Description

I just installed 8.10 fro liveCD. Had been using 8.04 previously. I needed to reinstall for a few reasons, anyway when a booted for the first time instead of opening the desktop it just opens a command line interface. I can log in through it but I don't know how to do much else with the terminal. I tried startx but it just say's something like "could not find display. Primary device not PCI"

I'm used AMD 4200 CPU, dual Nvidia 8800GT graphics. 1280*1024 display.

ANy help would be appriciated, I really liked ubuntu but now I can't get it to work...

Hi sam306,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.
