I am trying to find out why the msg says no space left on device since there are several GB of free space. The system has about 2GB free space and persistent has 1 GB free.

I am going to reformat the USB stick to give 8 GB to Ubuntu 8.10 and of this take 4GB for the persistent file system. This would give 4GB for the system and 4GB for persistent info.

If it's still an issue could you please provide the output of the following command:
df -P

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

this ceased to be an issue since the USB stick got corrupted and would
not longer boot.

A completely new installation permitted sun-java-6.11 to be installed.

My problem now is that network IP and DNS setting are not persistent to
the USB stick.

Earl

Thanks for following up. I'm closing this report due to your last comment regarding that it was a faulty device. Could you please file a new report for the Network/DNS issue. Thanks in advance.
